Our two-year Master program within the Faculty of Physics, at University of Bucharest, is designed to provide training in the fields of environment and Earth’s Sciences, from a physical perspective. Students with bachelor diploma in domains from Natural and Social Sciences are welcome to apply to this program.

In the first year the courses are focused on Atmospheric physics, Pollutants dispersion, The climate system, Dynamics of Earth’s interior and Seismology, Numerical modelling, Eco-friendly materials and Statistical methods in Earth’s sciences. During the second year, the knowledge and training gained in the first year are extended to topics like Meteorology, Extreme weather and climatic phenomena, Earth’s radiative balance, Environmental magnetism, Astronomy, Advanced materials with applications for environment and Methods for polymers degradation. The time amount reserved for scientific research is larger than that in the first year and the results are synthesized in the dissertation thesis.

During this program, the master students are gaining knowledge and research abilities in general and specific problems from the environmental protection and climate change to solid Earth dynamics and Astronomy, so that they are developing an extended scientific perspective on this fields. The teaching methods are adapted so that the courses are accessible for students with different bachelor backgrounds, which are gaining the necessarily knowledge and skills.

The graduates of this master program could be employed in collaborating research institution, in environmental companies, in administrative institutions and can continue their studies in the frame of a Ph.D. program at the Doctoral School at Faculty of Physics, in the section Physics of Atmosphere and Earth.

Furthermore, during or after the master studies, the students are mentored, encouraged and assisted to apply for research fellowships in Romanian and European research institutions, funded by various foundations (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt, Deutscher Akademischer AustauchDienst, Humboldt Foundation, CIVIS alliance; (include links here));
